Tapcons®-
the Original Blue Screw
Tapcons®, the original blue screws, are available in two diameters- 3/16" and 1/4". Tapcons® come in two different head styles- the hex washer head and flat Phillips counter sunk head. The 3/16" hex head uses a 1/4" driver while the 1/4" hex head uses a 5/16" driver. Phillips flat head tapcons® use a #2 bit tip for the 3/16" and a #3 bit tip for the 1/4" diameter screws. Every concrete screw requires a hole to be drilled into the base material. The 3/16" diameter Tapcon® requires a 5/32" hole and the 1/4" diameter Tapcon® requires a 3/16" hole. These conrete screws also come in different lengths ranging from 1-1/4" to 6". To determine the correct length of concrete screw to use in a specific application use the following formula:
Thickness of the material to be fastened
+ minimum embedment of 1" OR
+ maximum embedment of 1-3/4"
Tapcon® concrete screws are excellent fasteners to use in light and medium applications. These screws can also be used for fastening into concrete, brick or block base materials.
